The period between years is the stage of spiritual embryos. This is one of the basic terms of the Montessori philosophy. There are 2 embryonic periods in humans, the first is the prenatal period, the second is the postpartum period. Long-term infancy in humans distinguishes it from animals. In the animals, the newborn animal begins to act on its own in a short period of time, while in humans there is a long inadequacy.
Each individual is different from the other, has a unique soul. The child is born with a unique spirit and has a unique personality development. For the development of the spiritual embryo, there is a need for an external environment which is supported by love, respected, and helping the its development, as in the physical embryo. Dr Marie Montessori was convinced that this characterstic is found in children too The sensitive period is when there are signals to the sense to learn a particular skill is highlighted.
Example :- when a child learns to walk.. Once the perfection is achieved the sensitivity is gone ,this passion to learn a sskill is termed as Horme.. The child enters into this period into at about 2. Children want to explore their environment and also their bodies to master climbing up and down, walk and run; gradually skip and hop and other kind of dancing movement.
Child starts walking at the age of 2. Take them to places and offer opportunities where they can explore these things safely and with fun. You may have to put gate, or hold their hands when crossing the road but also give them chances where they may explore them with freedom.
The rooms must be properly maintained providing a good space for the child to walk ,the furniture should be soft with round edges. Adults must not provide a walker as the ability to walk is hindered. A child goes through the sensitive periods at certain stages in his life; there is a starting point, peak and end to all the sensitive periods. During these sensitive periods the child is able to absorb huge amounts of knowledge without fatigue. The child in a sensitive period will be attracted to and interested in work and movements of that sensitive period, he will focus and be completely absorbed in things of that particular sensitivity excluding everything else in the environment.
AS the period does not re-occur, it now turns into a difficult task where one has to be taught. This teaching can never compare to the absorbing during a sensitive period, the child will not gain half as much from the teaching experience as he would have from the sensitive period been met and nourished.
When sensitive periods are starved and not met there are more effects than just missed intellectual learning. This could lead to vandalism and aggression, violent reactions which are often put down to naughtiness and temper.
Or may not develop a proper balance while walking or standing…The clild when he grows to proper left out in physical activates in school like sports day. As an adult he may not be able to qualify for armed forces, police and Navy admissions. Factors of Child Development.

The Absorbent Mind absorbs everything without differentiating whatever it comes in contact with. The child absorbs the language and other minute aspects of culture just by living there or just by being there. The child absorbs the elements whatever available in his environment and makes into a part of his personality.
Horme is a driving force which is like Will Power. Maria Montessori says it is a very poor analogy though. It helps the child to achieve independence. The great purpose of the child in the world is to reach the norms of adult specie.
This drives the child to achieve the mastery over any activity. Take an example of a child learning to walk. The child starts with a step or two and falls down. Again he tries and falls. He will not stop there. He continues trying. If anybody stops him from trying he may even start crying and slip away from his mothers grip and starts his work of mastering his walking. At one point of time he achieves the art of walking.
He can walk without falling down. He will not keep quite by just learning to walk. He starts running. This running is for mastering his newly acquired skill of walking. Once is confident of walking and running he will concentrate on some other aspect of development.
Thus Horme in the child drives him to master any skill. Mneme is a special kind of memory. It cannot be compared to memory of adults. They have to consciously record and remember. Mneme just incarnates whatever the Absorbent Mind has been absorbed. Mneme is much much higher to camera. It is just an example The painting takes a long time and it may miss out some details, whereas the automatic camera captures everything in a fraction of second with minutest details.
