CV BY EMAIL COVER LETTER

Dropping from a leading contender to the bottom of the heap overnight, Resume Viper has garnered our AVOID rating for two good reasons: their phone lines are dead, and email sent to the company receives no response. The company is either on autopilot and nobody has noticed the phone aren't ringing and email is piling up , or the owners have just walked away from the company and the website is dead.

Either way, the last thing you want to do is send your money to this outfit. The latter operates a similar service. So similar, in fact, that it 'borrows' huge blocks of text from the Viper site. You enjoy dubious consent. You enjoy reverse harem. If you like smut, chances are this will be a satisfying read. The author is very good at building up tension before and during these scenes. Although, I must say that many of the scenes are extremely graphic. The pairing of violence and sex is a common theme within this book. If you like to explore those themes in conjunction with one another, this might be enjoyable for you. You enjoy stories with multiple POVs.

You enjoy stories with unreliable narrators. I felt like I was in a freaking fever dream while reading this. Knight is truly an author to behold because somehow she managed to make me bored, angry, and just plain confused all at the same time. Toxic masculinity x Diesel: I think his name explains it all.

A murderous one at that. Weirdly enough, I think the author tries to use him as comedic relief. Kenzo: my favorite. He is the gambler of the group. Lack of plot, pacing, very very problematic characterization of kidnapping and abuse victims. I feel like I must be missing something. But you know what it is an accurate depiction of? Stockholm syndrome. That she loves them.

And that to me is disgusting. It also does its hardest to slut shame women, but I mean, what do I expect from a book that is literally depicting an abusive relationship with ZERO self awareness? It would wreck him. It would hurt HIM?? Listen, I think the last quote really speaks for the cheesiness and quality of writing, but I will just end on this. Where is the pegging? Apr 24, D. Howe rated it really liked it Shelves: mafia , dark , rh. I see now why this book is so popular. She can write death and gore just as well as she can beautiful soul searing prose. Wonderful really! This is the first RH where all the dudes each have their very own personality. This one just keeps ticking all the boxes.

Can I see now why this book is so popular. Her and her bat. Girl, get it! Fuck Ryder! But the fact that she ran to Garrett, too funny. Does anyone else find it amusing that she keeps talking to her girly bits? Honestly the only interesting thing about Ryder is that she keeps fucking up his shit.

Tit for tat or should I say dick? Never gamble with a professional. How do you not fall in love with that? The fuck?! Hopefully at her hands. But after the cemetery? He has my heart. The emotional moments are just so good. She has them with every guy and each one is beautiful in its own way. Good question and the answer is I have no idea.

But I do know that situation was handled very well, in a way that made it work. You know what I love best about Ryder? I enjoyed it more when they showed her their world than their cocks. Yes, I love his character, I love how multifaceted he is, how funny and crazy and sweet. But as a boyfriend? Too fucking clingy! Sorry, not sorry. I said it once but it bares saying again, this book is too goddam long.

Those last two hundred pages dragged like a motherfucker. View all 29 comments. Aug 30, Lorraine Lesar rated it really liked it. This is a first for me. What I am going to do though is I deserve it. Jul 29, Bex Beckie Bookworm rated it it was amazing Shelves: menage-mfm-mmf , psycho-heroine-hero , reverse-harem , fighters-boxers , romance , book-reviews , captive , dark , hot-heavy , mafia-mobster. I bloody adored this like massively, my First experience of this author and now I just want to binge-read all her backlist I was that impressed with this. This is Dark Reverse-harem but it's the situations and actions of the characters involved that add the darkness to this one. The building relationships between Roxy and her men I actually found rather sweet and intense if majorly untraditional and intensively unique.

Each of them brings something solely them to the table and together they are a f I bloody adored this like massively, my First experience of this author and now I just want to binge-read all her backlist I was that impressed with this. Each of them brings something solely them to the table and together they are a family. A messed-up totally psychotic one but a solid loyal unit all the same. The Vipers run and own the city so when Roxy's estranged father finds himself in their debt he pays his due in flesh with his daughter.

Roxanne's background isn't exactly glamorous but what it's done is build the foundations of a strong take no bull individual. Now running a local dive-bar she's not afraid to get her hands dirty. A dynamo of silver hair, tattoos and piercings with a mouth on her that would make sailors blush.

She's unpredictable, resilient and pragmatic she also isn't exactly thrilled to find herself the personal property of the Vipers. The Vipers are the big-man about town nobody crosses them without paying in blood. Ryder is the face of the Vipers he is essentially their leader keeping the others in line both physically and emotionally.

On the surface, he is Suited, calm, cold and collected with his fire locked down fire behind a wall of ice, still waters run deep with this one. Ryder ultimately feels responsible for his fellow Vipers, he also needs control worried that he will become his father. Kenzo controls the gaming halls and all gambling across the city he's Ryder's blood brother and the younger of the two.

Ryder has always tried to protect Kenzo who's much more in touch with his emotions, that isn't to say he's a pushover as he's every bit as sadistic as the others when the need calls for it. Garrett ex-boxer once a professional now fights on the underground circuit. He's huge in size and the Enforcer of the group he also hates woman because of a traumatic past.

Finally, Diesel the torturer he's completely psychotic and definitely insane. He's one scary dude with a penchant for pain, blood and death he's also a bit of a pyro. Each male here was so uniquely different all with such distinct personality traits.

I loved how this built things up and was almost initially slow-burning in nature and the time that was taken with each connection here fully convincing me of the authenticity of the feelings involved. Each connection has a slightly different flavour attached to it which only managed to showcase the whole individuality of this.

His extremely affectionate and bold personality with his little bird when he wasn't getting down and freaky helped to offset his more extreme sexual proclivities helping to Showcase a much more human side to him, at least with his little bird. Diesel got Roxy right from the onset his eccentric madness almost stripping away at the usual artifice.

So Den Of Vipers was intensely erotic and incredibly graphic in places. Its offset by the brilliant characterisation which makes this so much more than just some hot words on paper. I felt all this deep in my soul and believed in the portrayed dynamic of all the characters involved. I loved the sheer extremities of the relationships here and all the over the top overt possessiveness.

This was violent and uncompromising and such a major page-turner. Be aware this really is graphic when it comes to described torture and such but that for me was part of the whole appeal here. Can't recommend this highly enough it was brilliant and also a really decent length as well.

I literally binge read this I was that invested, one of my stand out reads this year and just maybe one of my favourite reverse-harem reads ever. Aug 28, Patron Saint Fitzwilliam rated it did not like it. This book is about as fun as taking a knife up the pooper. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. There is nothing terribly surprising here, apart from how terrible this book is to endure for pages.

You have Roxy--who in spite of being lauded as beautiful, amazing, confident, violent, brave, crazy, beautiful, more beautiful, long legs, big titties, curves, beautiful, sexy, hot, We see her s This book is about as fun as taking a knife up the pooper. We see her so often through the eyes of the guys I rhyme! Yeah, we know her dad beat her. We know she was "put back together" by some dude named Rich. We know she is "damaged. So, she's sold by said-shitty father to the mafia--the Vipers.

Stockholm syndrome is joked about, like, "hah hah hah, I don't have that! Yeah, You DO have it. Sorry, babe. You've aligned yourself with your captors and feel loyal to them, irrationally so. More than, oh, 50 times in the book she states that she would die to protect them. In spite of what her harem dudes say about her see above , this is a girl who has zero sense of self worth. The guys are all tropey: Big damaged dude who's hard to win over.

Cunning, emotionless leader in a business suit. Kind hearted emo. Somehow, Roxy fills all their "holes" not even a pun there I mean, there's so much sex! And impalement with various objects She loves to get hit, has rewired herself over years of abuse to like choking, slapping, stabbing, impalement with objects various and sundry seriously, kudos to the author for that water bottle scene.

Out of the box thinking! I know some people have this kink, and I while I'm disparaging the book, I want to make it known that I couldn't care less what people do in their personal lives, so long as it is consensual and doesn't hurt someone. But this book made light of it in a way that doesn't really address more than the gratuitous. There's no peeling back the layers to figure out why Roxy is this way--or the guys are--for that matter.

So, I suppose the "vibe" here is one of absurd, over-the-top violence and sex: heads smashed with baseball bats beyond recognition. Lighting people on fire for fun. Grenades kept in sparkly fanny packs for funsies. Stabbing, flaying, cutting off of limbs But, it is all meaningless. There are better books out that that have the dark romance element without going overboard in such a cheesy and macabre way. I thought I'd be able to turn off my brain and enjoy this one, but it turns out I was pretty revolted by the whole thing.

View all 13 comments. Apr 02, Olivia rated it it was amazing. View all 11 comments. Aug 04, 25 Readings Or More rated it it was amazing. It's the kind of dark romance i love When a debtor sell them his daughter to repay his debt they are totally fine with that: a new toy to play with could be funny after all.

But they wasn't really ready for Roxy and the way she turn upside down their world. She face them, fight them and that's all it take to make them fall. But she is not immune to the four men And it's so true, they have a way to sneak in your heart: one moment they are sexy, charming assoholes; the next they are sweet and vulnerable baring their souls to let you see how deep are their scars; and then they change again and they are lethal machines who scare the shit out of you.

Picking just one of them is impossible. I like the author took her time to develope each relationship, but above all to cement the sense of family. Despite what they are, despite the madness there is no doubt that they are a family. The depth of their love is unbelievable, even if not everyone will understand that. Their relationship is unconventional but sometimes we find love in the strangest places and life is to short and unpredictable to care what other people think.

Feb 02, Nellie rated it did not like it. Wattpad has better stories than this. View 1 comment. Aug 16, Namera [The Literary Invertebrate] rated it really liked it Shelves: abduction , alpha-hero , reverse-harem , villain-hero , antiheroine , bdsm , confusing-book , hero-pursues-heroine , wealthy-hero , black-haired-hero.

I vacillated massively between whether to give this 3 stars or 4 stars. On the plus side: great characterisation, hot sex scenes, good relationship development. On the minus side: poor prose style, plot holes you could drive a truck through, and massive suspension of disbelief. But let's get the summary out of the way first. Ryder, Kenzo, Diesel, and Garrett are the Vipers - four men who rule some unnamed city which feels like it should be American, since guns are everywh 3. Ryder, Kenzo, Diesel, and Garrett are the Vipers - four men who rule some unnamed city which feels like it should be American, since guns are everywhere, but also they talk like Brits, so who knows.

When the book starts they're busy torturing some guy named Rob who owes them a debt. He pleads to save his life, and in exchange he hands them his estranged daughter Roxy, who runs a bar on the rundown side of town. They decide they'll have a bit of fun with her and then kill her, so they send some men to go and fetch her. Unfortunately for those men, Roxy doesn't plan on coming easily.

She takes out all four of them with a baseball bat - an admittedly unrealistic scene, but one which hooked me into downloading the whole book and not just the Amazon sample. Before that the book seemed like it was threatening to be formulaic. After all, how many books have I read where the hero buys the heroine from her dad for a gambling debt?

They're literally everywhere in historical romance. Even Georgette Heyer, mother of the modern Regency romance, has one! But then Roxy shows herself to be a completely violent, take-no-prisoners bitch, and I knew I had to read more. The Vipers do eventually show up to collect her themselves. She goes with them, and a connection slowly develops between them all, fuelled by lots of hate sex. Though more of the sex and less of the hate. At almost k words, this is a super-long book, and the middle is where it started to drag a bit; all that really seemed to happen was Roxy wearing various dresses and the men throwing her down on various surfaces.

Not that I was really complaining, though. Because here is where the best bit of the book comes in: the characterisation. Roxy, and all four men, have really strongly defined personalities that are easily distinguishable from each other. You have Ryder, the cool and icy alpha asshole, Kenzie the charming flirt, Garrett the surly dick and Diesel - who's basically just insane.

He was pretty much the best character. These guys are all unapologetic villain figures, and I was totally here for it. It's a fairly dark book: there's moderately graphic torture, including a bit of wax play and enough blood play to make me wrinkle my nose. There's also a plotline later on in the book about another gang that tries to take over the city. I found it fairly boring, and I'm glad it only really manifested after the halfway point so we could have all our nice relationship development first.

My final thoughts on the romance: I really liked how each relationship with the members of the harem progressed on its own terms, and how individualistic they all felt. It also wasn't romanticised. For instance, at one point while Roxy is being held captive by the Vipers' enemies, she thinks to herself that if she spills anything under torture, Diesel will murder her for her betrayal - that's her common sense talking, and I really can't think of any other mafia-style romance book which would retain such a clear-eyed portrayal.

Sure, it's not romantic that her true love won't forgive her everything, but it was realistic - and trust me, this book needed a heavy dose of realism. Which brings me to my first negative: all the disbelief I had to suspend.

To be fair, not as much suspension was needed as it is e. Stunich's Prescott High series, because at least all these characters are adults. But still. We have these four guys, whose ages are never given but seem to be in their mids max, going around murdering and pillaging with total impunity because they've apparently bought off EVERY judge and EVERY police offer in the city? Yeah, right. Diesel in particular is very unstable and portrayed as murdering people for looking at him wrong, including in public, with hundreds of witnesses.

Yet we never even see a police officer come to see what's up. Roxy is tortured, and it's pretty bad - cracked ribs, nails pulled off fingers, barbed wire wrapped around her wrists. Yet she doesn't even see a doctor - nor do her men insist she see a doctor after being literally tortured, which I found incredible - and is immediately up for intense sex scenes and violence.

This rang extremely false to me. So did the ease with which Roxy constantly physically overpowered various enemies. Other plot hole: Roxy constantly having 'thick thighs' throughout the book, then in a couple of chapters they're described as 'lean. She ended up being a total bitch to people who hadn't even done anything to her, and I started being fed up with her attitude. The thing that annoyed me the most, though, is definitely the prose style. Which is kind of funny, because when I tried to read Knight's earlier books, I had to stop because there were so few commas.

Poor woman can't catch a break when it comes to correct punctuation. But in many cases, commas were used where a full stop would have worked better, and I had to constantly substitute them in my head to avoid being jarred out of the story. The book also needed way more contractions to make the speech less stilted.

Overall I'd seen this book recommended on Facebook a lot, but I'm glad I actually got around to reading it. Two days well spent. But I hope Knight's future books have improved grammar in them, because her backlist was unreadable for me. Feb 20, Crystal Bell rated it really liked it Shelves: dark-romance. After many Recommendations, I decided to give this book a try.

I was on and off about it for a while. I have to say I really enjoyed this book. First, what I liked about the book, the character development and growth alone is five stars. I love all the main characters. Roxy is a fierce badass. Instead of being a victim, she became a survivor. Roxy is someone the Vipers never saw coming and needed in their lives. She turns their lives u After many Recommendations, I decided to give this book a try. She turns their lives upside down.

It was phenomenal to read. They are going to regret the day they took me. Bitch, please, I bite too. Second half it kinda made me crave something more. I really enjoyed reading this novel. View all 6 comments. Jan 21, Brittany whatbritreads rated it it was ok Shelves: crime , contemporary , adult , romance , horror.

This book is for adults. Where do I start. Yes, This book is for adults. Yes, this book was fairly shocking. The logistics of some of this violence and a lot of the action scenes made absolutely no sense, someone has to say it.

How do you also, rip someones ear clean off of their head? How did Roxy get a grenade thrown at her and manage to simply bat it away with her stupid baseball bat? How did they all survive the entirety of the book? These are just some examples of how utterly absurd the entire thing was and I ended up laughing so many times. It was so so stupid, sorry. The characters were completely insane and they mimicked that very violent behaviour in the bedroom scenes frequently. Let me be clear, I do not care what you like in the bedroom.

Plus, this being a fictional bedroom, I doubly do not care. I have no words to explain how unsettling this man was. The writing was also awful. IIt tried way too hard to be deep and metaphorical in the descriptions that it was laughable. It had no consistent tone or style and was all over the place. And I have to be honest.
